Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) has launched scheduled seaplane operations from N. Manadhoo to Velana International Airport.
Manadhoo councilman Ali Shiyaz reported to “Sun” that the operations, which was launched this Monday, was for seaplanes which operate from The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi – which lays near Manadhoo – to Velana International Airport.
“Seaplanes which travel from Iru Fushi to the airport will stop here [Manadhoo] and will leave for the airport after taking on people for the empty seats. Each flight will land here if there is anyone who wants a seat,” said Shiyaz.
He said that people from Manadhoo who wished to buy a seat from a seaplane previously had to travel to Iru Fushi, and that the new change was a huge convenience to the people.
Shiyaz said that two flights were scheduled to land in Manadhoo this Monday, the first of which is already completely booked.
