USD 1 mn sold to travelers via BML

Bank of Maldives reports it has passed the USD 1 million benchmark after introducing its USD Booking Portal for sale of dollars to locals traveling out of the country.

The announcement was made by the bank via its official Twitter account this Monday morning.

“We are pleased to report that USD 1 million has been provided to Maldivians traveling abroad through our convenient new booking system,” announced BML in its tweet.

BML reports it reached the USD 1 million benchmark within 15 days, after launching the new system on January 8.

Through the new system, travelers have the option of booking dollars through BML USD Booking Portal or from any of the bank’s branches. The dollars booked will then be issued to travelers from BML counters located near departure gate 4 in Velana International Airport.

BML kicked off the new system by gifting the first 10 travelers to retrieve dollars from the BML counters in the airport with an extra USD 100 each.

The bank advices customers to pay attention to the following details:

• Bookings need to be made 8 hours to 120 hours (5 days) prior to time of departure.

• Ensuring the details submitted online is accurate in order to avoid delays when the travelers come to collect the money.

• Travelers who wish to change any details after confirming the booking, or have any questions regarding booking can contact the BML contact center by calling 333-0200.
