4 arrested over MVR 200,000 in stolen cash

Police have arrested four suspects in the robbery of over MVR 200,000 in cash being transported from a Rainbow showroom to Rainbow head office on January 2.

All four suspects arrested are Maldivian men; aged 17 years, 19 years, 21 years and 23 years.

The 19-year-old was arrested on January 10, the 17-year-old on January 11, the 23-year-old on January 13, and the 21-year-old on January 14.

Police reports they are working on recovering the stolen money, as well as arresting additional suspects.

Criminal Court has granted extensions to the remand period of all four suspects arrested.
