MNDF Coastguard has said that the rescuing of the Sri Lankan fisherman while lost at sea will bring international trust to the Maldivian people and military.
Commander of the Coastguard, Colonel Mohamed Ibrahim make the remake at the press conference today following the Defence Minister’s visit to the Coastguard vessel “Huravee” involved in the rescue.
Talking to the press, Colonel Ibrahim said that the Sri Lankan authorities tasked the rescue of the missing fishing boats to the Maldivian Coastguard because of the trust they have with the Coastguard and the people in charge.
But with the assistance provided by the local fishermen in finding the boat has built grown the trust from the international community to the Maldivian people.
Speaking further, the Coastguard Commander expressed his gratitude to the local fishermen for their assistance in locating the missing Sri Lankan fishing boats.
He said that they have the guarantee that local fishermen would help if the coastguard asks for assistance in the future.
Colonel Ibrahim said that the MNDF Coastguard is ready to provide any assistance in any situation facing the Maldives.
