Dhunya: President Yameen’s policies are extremely effective

The new State Minister of Ministry of Health, Dhunya Maumoon has declared President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s policies extremely effective, commenting that Maldives was going in the right direction despite various challenges.

Dhunya has originally been the first Minister of Foreign Affairs of President Yameen’s administration before resigning in June, 2016 over conflicts of opinion over some of the administration’s policies.

She re-joined President Yameen’s administration as State Minister of Ministry of Health six months afterwards, on January 5.

In an interview to Public Service Media (PSM) on Saturday night, Dhunya commented that President Yameen’s policies were extremely effective, and that the country was headed in the right direction under his leadership.

“We see progress in development – whether in Male’ or the atolls. I believe the people want more development. It’s important to expedite this,” said Dhunya.

Commenting on the country’s foreign policy, Dhunya said it was important that Maldives be independent, able to stand on its own two feet.

“To face international pressure and maintain sovereignty. God willing, we will succeed in this effort,” said Dhunya.
