Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that most of the development projects for the upcoming year will be focused on the atolls.
Speaking during a press conference held at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure this
Thursday, Minister Muizzu said that major infrastructure development projects would be carried out in the atolls in 2017, including 600 housing units in eight islands.
He said that additional projects included construction of harbors in small islands to improve transport.
“God willing, the coming year will see the completion of ongoing projects to build harbors and reclaim land,” said Muizzu.
Minister Muizzu said that 45 projects to build harbors were launched in 2016, 10 of which has been completed.
Muizzu said that more infrastructure development projects had been carried out in 2016 than in 2015 of 2014 – including multiple community parks in Male’ City and repair work on the streets of Male’ City.
He said that the focus of the ministry in 2017 would be to develop the infrastructure of the atolls.
