Nine arrested in Addu City with drugs

Nine people have been arrested with drugs in an ongoing operation by the Maldives Police Service in Addu City.

In the operation that began on 15 December, the Police are searching suspected people and locations along with abandandon areas across the city.

Police said that they arrested 16-53 year-old males in the operation.

During the searches so far, Police have found the tools used to cook alcohol along with a 30 liter can and two 20 liter cans along with two 1.5 liter bottles of suspected alcohol.

Aside from alcohol, Police also found seven rubber packets and a glass bottle of suspected drugs.

As a Police anti-drug operation in underway in Addu City, last Thursday, a similar operation began in the Malé atoll.
