Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been contracted to build the highway from China-Maldives Friendship Bridge – between Male’ and Hulhule’ – to Hulhumale’.
The contract was signed in a function held this Monday at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Managing Director of HDC, Mohamed Saiman.
Minister Muizzu reported that the highway will be built at the expense of HDC, and that it was scheduled to be complete by April, 2018.
The road between Hulhule’ and Hulhumale’ currently in use is narrow.
MD of HDC, Saiman said that the company will be reclaiming land to construct the highway.
Saiman refused to disclose the cost of the project or any other details, but said that construction will start within two-months’ time.
The China-Maldives Friendship Bridge between Male’ and Hulhule’ is under construction, and is scheduled to be complete in 2018.
