Possession and consumption of energy drinks has been banned from all Maldivian schools, starting academic year 2017.
Ministry of Education released a circular, this Monday, announcing that a ban on energy drinks would be imposed on all Maldivian schools, under the directive of President’s Office.
Possession, sale and consumption of energy drinks will be banned from all school campuses starting academic year 2017.
Advertisement of energy drinks has also been banned from all school activities.
Energy drinks were frequently advertised and sponsored during many school activities, as well as events organized by Ministry of Education.
The ban comes amid concern over the health risk from energy drinks to children, and exposure of children to energy drink advertisements.
Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has banned advertisement of energy drinks from all public spaces across Male’ City.
