No major damage in chemical attack

A woman in Shaviyani atoll Lhaimagu has escaped without serious damages following a chemical attack to the face.

The President of the Lhaimagu Women’s Development Committee, Haleema Adam was attacked with acid in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A high ranking official of Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital said that Haleema is in good condition and would be released tomorrow according to her doctor.

“Eyesight wasn’t affected; there would be itchiness (in the eyes) from chemical, no other damage.” Official said.

The official said that the chemical used was a toilet cleaner and so there is no damage to the facial skin.

As the Police continues the investigation into the attack, two arrests have been made so far.
