Junaid: Will hire staff for Hulhumale’ Port soon

CEO of Maldives Ports Limited, Mohamed Junaid has announced the company will start hiring staff for its port in Hulhumale’ – used as a container clearance facility – soon.

Junaid had previously pledged MPL will generate 500 new job opportunities in 2017.

Making an appearance in the TVM show “Rajje Miadhu” on Friday night, Junaid said that MPL had generated 300 new job opportunities and recorded an 18 percent increase in income since he took the reins.

He said that MPL had a lot of assets lying idle, which could be used to generate more income for the company.

Junaid said that the MVR 100 million container clearance facility in Hulhumale’ Port would generate more than 100 job opportunities.

“This is good news to Hulhumale’ residents. We will start hiring people from Hulhumale’ for these operations very soon,” he said.

He noted that businesses were in dire need of the container clearance facility.

“Businessmen are ready to pay for MPL’s services. I want to say income can be increased even by creating 500 new job opportunities.”
