Vice Chairperson of MDP, Ali Niyaz has been released from house arrest.
Police said that Niyaz was released after completing what was needed of him to their investigation.
Niyaz was arrested during the protest by the Maldives United Opposition (MUO) in front of the MDP hall calling to hasten the Local Council Election.
Then, the Police said that Niyaz was arrested for calling for mass gathering at locations where mass gatherings have been banned and attempting to create civil unrest.
And when he was taken to the Criminal Court for the remand hearing, the court ruled for seven days of house arrest. While Niyaz has already been released, the court duration of the house arrest would be expiring tomorrow.
