2 arrested with 262 packets of narcotics

Police have arrested two people and confiscated 262 rubber packets of narcotics from K. Maafushi.

Police reported its intelligence unit and K. Maafushi Police Station made the arrest in a joint operation run at 2:45 pm, last Friday.

The two suspects arrested in the case are a 28-year-old man and a 20-year-old man.

Police made the arrest near Maafushi harbor area.

The authority reports the two suspects had thrown the narcotics they were carrying immediately when they spotted the police.

Maafushi Magistrate Court has ordered a remand period of 15 days for the two suspects, during which time they will be kept under detention in a place designated by Ministry of Home Affairs.
