Palestinian government had expressed interest in sending its Islamic scholars to Maldives and providing technical expertise in two areas.
The interest was expressed by Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki during the meeting between him and Maldivian Foreign Minister Dr. Mohamed Asim in the sidelines of Democracy Forum underway in Bali, Indonesia.
The two foreign ministers discussed the current international and regional issues, as well mutually beneficial areas of partnership.
Minister al-Maliki expressed interest in sending Islamic scholars and Arabic language teachers to Maldives, as well as providing technical expertise in agriculture.
Newspaper “Middle East Monitor” reports that Maldivian Foreign Minister Dr. Asim welcomed the offer of assistance.
Dr. Asim reaffirmed that Maldives will continue its support to the Palestinian cause.
