Maldives Immigration has warned of foreigners applying for new visas or renewal of visas submitting bogus medical reports hiding dangerous communicable diseases.
Immigration announced the issue was now under investigation by authorities, and that a temporary ban had been issued on medical reports issued by certain medical facilities, pending the result of the investigation.
The authority said it noticed foreigners who submitted such bogus medical reports had had history of dangerous communicable diseases disclosed in previous medical reports wiped clean.
Maldives Immigration noted that the ban on medical reports from certain medical facilities was not imposed to cause deliberate harm to specific medical facilities, but was a temporary measure until authorities completed the investigation.
“The authority will not hesitate in taking any action necessary regarding such issues, which are linked with safety and wellbeing of the community,” said Immigration.
The statement comes after the authority banned medical reports issued from ADK Hospital and AMDC.
