Inner Maldives introduces USD 359 tour package from Gan to Colombo

Travel agency, Inner Maldives Holidays has introduced special tour packages for travelers from Gan, Addu City to Colombo, Sri Lanka, after SriLankan Airlines launched direct flight operations from Gan International Airport to Colombo last week.

Aviation Manager of Inner Maldives Holidays, Ahmed Ijaaz reported to “Sun” that the travel agency had been offering tour packages – including return tickets, accommodation and tours – to destinations traveled by SriLankan Airlines since 2007.

Inner Maldives Holidays introduced the special tour packages after SriLankan Airlines started direct international flight operations in Gan International Airport on December 1.

“Previously we worked from the airport in Male’. This has changed now. Now we have introduced packages from Gan to Colombo with the flight operations between Gan and Colombo,” said Ijaaz.

The packages - which include return Gan-Colombo return tickets, two-night stay at a three-star hotel in Colombo, and tours - start from USD 359.

Ijaaz reports that the special tour packages will be available from Inner Maldives Holidays until the end of December.

The travel agency said it will be offering special tour packages to more destinations traveled by SriLankan.

Neighboring Sri Lanka is the most frequently visited foreign country by Maldivians. It is also the most frequently used transit stop for Maldivians travelling to other countries.

National airline of Sri Lanka – SriLankan Airlines operates the most number of flights from Maldives to other international destinations.

Statistics published by Sri Lankan Tourism Development Authority shows that Maldives is the sixth largest tourism market of the country. Over 69,000 Maldivians traveled to Sri Lanka this year, up until October.

It’s expected that the figure will increase with the start of direct flight operations between Gan and Colombo by SriLankan Airlines.
