Inmate discovered dead in Himmafushi Asseyri Prison

An inmate serving his sentence at the Asseyri Prison in the island of K. Himmafushi has been found dead.

The dead inmate has been identified as Ahmed Hassan, 55, (Dhafthar 9058).

Maldives Correctional Service said that the man was discovered dead at 4:40 am, in the early hours of this Thursday morning when the inmates were woken up for the dawn prayer.

Concern was raised when he failed to get up.

Police media official who spoke to “Sun” said the case was reported to them at 5:30 am. And that it was under investigation.
