Maldives Investment Forum 2017 to be held in Qatar

Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed has announced that the fourth edition of Maldives Investment Forum – MIF 2017 will be held in Doha, Qatar.

Minister Saeed made the announcement while speaking to press on Monday, at the sidelines of MIF 2016, which is being held at The Taj Palace in New Delhi, India.

He said Doha was chosen as the location to hold the next MIF by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom himself.

Minister Saeed said that President Yameen hoped to open investment opportunities in Maldives to the Middle East and the greater Islamic world.

MIF 2016, which is set to be officially launched this Tuesday, is expected to attract a huge crowd on Indian and other international investors.

Speaking in an earlier interview, Minister Saeed said that the government’s biggest objective for this year’s forum was to promote investment opportunities available via the major economic projects which was being run in the country – such as the Special Economic Zones.
