Iru Fushi awarded Leading Wellness and Spa Resort

Sun Group’s The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi has won the award for Leading Wellness and Spa Resort in Maldives Travel Awards (MTA) 2016 – organized by Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO).

Iru Fushi won the award by beating Dusit Thani Maldives and Anantara Veli during MTA 2016 Gala Night held at Olhuveli Beach Resort on Sunday night.

Sun Siyam Resorts also won the award for the resort which provides the most assistance to tour operators and travel agents, while Chairman and Managing Director of Sun Siyam Resorts, Dr. Ahmed Siyam (Sun Siyam) was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award in Tourism.

246 tourism businesses were nominated for awards in 35 categories for MTA 2016.

The most awards were taken by Bandos Island Resort – which took four awards, and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island – which took three awards.

In his introductory speech on Sunday night, President of MATATO, Abdulla Giyaas said MTAs were now internationally acclaimed, and that MATATO worked with an audit firm for the MTA 2016 to strengthen its authenticity.
