Construction aggregate thrown overboard the Vietnamese cargo boat “MV NGOC Sun” as it lay wrecked on the reef of Fuvahmulah City from August 13 to September 15 has started gathering on the shores of the island as its swept in by the tide.
MV NGOC Sun had been carrying construction hundreds of tons of construction material for the island’s water and sewerage project when it wrecked on the reef towards its south.
Over 1,000 tons of construction material was thrown overboard in an effort to remove the boat from the reef.
Chairman of Transport Authority, Abdul Rasheed Nafiz had reported in an earlier interview with “Sun” that the company which owns the cargo boat was conducting its efforts to tow the boat off the reef after discussion with TA, Ministry of Environment and Energy, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Attorney General’s Office.
