Maldivian travel and tourism businesses have won 18 awards at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2016.
The award-winners were announced during the SATA 2016 Gala Night held at the picturesque Mount Lavinia Hotel in Sri Lanka on Wednesday night.
More than 270 top names were nominated for the awards – which were handed out from 29 categories.
Maldives won the bulk of the awards with 18 awards; while Sri Lanka won 8 awards and India won 3 awards.

The SATA 2016 Gala Night featured traditional Maldivian items such as the “Boduberu”.
Five of the seven Visitors Choice Awards were also won by Maldives.
