Police have confiscated a narcotics shipment en route to L. Kunahandhoo on a boat, arresting two men suspected of being behind the narcotics smuggling attempt.
Police reported the narcotics being transported via a supply boat from Male’ to Kunahandhoo was seized on November 7, based on an intelligence report they received.
Two 28-year-old men on board the boat were arrested.
The narcotics were found inside a cardboard box the men were carrying.
A narcotic powder was found inside a plastic packet, and hashish oil was found inside two empty jam jars.
The narcotics weigh approximately 225 grams.
Analysis needs to be complete before they type of narcotics in the seized shipment can be confirmed.
The case is under investigation by L. Gan Police Station.
L. Fonadhoo Magistrate Court ordered the two suspects in custody of police in a place designated by Ministry of Home Affairs for 10 days.
