Nihan chosen Chair, Amir chosen Deputy Chair of Budget Committee

People’s Majlis majority leader, Vilimale’ MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has been chosen Chair, and Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir has been chosen Deputy Chair of Budget Research Committee.

The decision was made during the joint meeting by Finance Committee and Economic Committee on Tuesday.

Some members were absent from the meeting, and Nihan and Amir secured the vote of majority of those present.

As per Majlis regulation, Finance Committee and Economic Committee needs to research the projected State budget submitted by the government each year.

Nihan had also been Chair of the Budget Research Committee for 2016, while Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) member - Kendhikulhudhoo MP, Ali Mauroof had been Deputy Chair.
