Guards foil Dhoonidhoo prison-break attempt

Guards have foiled an escape attempt made by inmates of Dhoonidhoo Prison in the early hours of this Monday morning.

The incident took place at around 3:05 am.

Police reported inmates of one cell had worked their way through the lock and then broke through the locks of some other cells.

Police reported that all inmates have been re-captured and the situation is now under control.

“They have been put back into cells, and measures to ensure custodial safety are in place. Inmates at Dhoonidhoo have been counted and double-checked with the help of police,” reported the police.

None of the inmates who attempted to flee made their way out of the prison.
