Police arrest man driving three-wheeler toddler was caught under

Police have arrested the man driving the three-wheeled truck in K. Huraa which was involved in the accident injuring a three-year-old boy.

Police media official reported the man was arrested last Saturday, and is now under house arrest.

Three-year-old Mohamed Naal Niyaz from Hura was caught under the three-wheeler in an accident that took place at approximately 5:30 pm, Friday.

Eyewitnesses reported the Naal had been hanging on to the side of the three-wheeler after getting off of it, when the driver, who was unaware of it, had driven off.

Naal fell down and got caught under the wheels.

He suffered critical injuries including a burst liver, and is currently receiving treatment in India.

“Sun” has been informed the driver is a 50-year-old man from Male’ who is married to a woman in Huraa and has been living on the island for the past 20 years or so.

He has been remanded to house arrest for 10 days.
