Leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has commended members of PPM for their “no-choice” attendance to the party gathering held Friday night.
He made the comment during a tweet sent out on Friday night, with which he attached a photograph of individuals holding up MVR 500 bills at the gathering.

The tweet, part of a series of three consecutive tweets made in Dhivehi, translates to say “I commend the beloved members of PPM who attended the gathering. Stand steadfast!”
He then tweeted “One said I will not be invited. The other said it was a shame I didn’t attend.”
“If one cannot be honest about something like this, what can he be honest about?”
During the gathering held to celebrate PPM’s 5-year anniversary, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom proclaimed he was inviting Maumoon to return back to the fold and work with the government.
