Majlis sitting cancelled, no work

People’s Majlis sitting scheduled for this Monday has been cancelled due to lack of work set in the agenda.

No Majlis sitting has been held for over a week, with the last sitting held on October 20.

During the sitting on October 20, lawmakers passed the audit budget for 2017 – MVR 45 million.

It was during the same sitting that lawmakers rejected Kaashidhoo MP Faisal Naseem’s bill to amend Tourism Act and make it compulsory for 50 percent of management of any resort operating in Maldives to comprise of locals.

As per People’s Majlis regulation, sittings are compulsory every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of a week.
