CEO of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Mohamed Junaid has announced a projected 45 percent increase in profits for the company in 2017, pledging to develop Male’ Commercial Harbor and create 500 job opportunities.
CEO Junaid made the pledges during function held at Meerubahuru Harbor on Sunday night to celebrate 30th anniversary of Male’ Commercial Harbor.
Junaid said that the company had created 270 jobs since he took the helm of the company, pledging to create 500 more jobs in 2017.
He said that creating more jobs would not result in any financial strain if it is met with increase in profit generated by the company.
“MPL will create 500 job opportunities next year. MPL is a company which can create more job opportunities by increasing profit,” said Junaid.
MPL currently employs approximately 2,000 people.
In his speech, Junaid outlines the company’s plans to increase its profit.
He proposed the use of valuable assets owned by MPL to generate profit.
Junaid noted the restaurant built on MPL site, and said that it was expected to generate millions in profit once it was opened within the coming one-week period.
Junaid pledged to develop Male’ Commercial Harbor and empower the staff of MPL if he remained at the helm.
