Prosecution of Lucas abandoned over lack of evidence

Police have decided not to prosecute Shammoon Jaleel AKA Lucas Jaleel over lack of sufficient evidence against him.

Lucas was arrested by police under suspicion he was conspiring to create hatred within the heart of people against the country’s security forces.

He was kept 40 days in detention after the arrest, before being transferred to house arrest.

Lucas was informed on October 20 of the decision to abandon the case against him.
