President inaugurates Kanditheem Sewerage System

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has officially inaugurated the Sh. Kanditheem Sewerage System – which’s construction began two years ago and was funded by State budget.

President Yameen inaugurated the sewerage system this Wednesday, in what is his first visit to Kanditheem – an island of approximately 1,100 people.

The project was contracted to Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) at MVR 40.9 million on a design and build basis.

It was completed in February, 2016, and will provide sanitation services to 371 households on the island.

The sewerage system network in Kanditheem is 8.84 kilometers long, includes three pump stations, 207 manholes, and a 248-meter-long sea outflow.

Fenaka Corporation has been charged with managing the sewerage system.
