An invitation has been extended to the USA, UK and Japan to establish Free Trade agreements with the Maldives.
While Free Trade agreement discussions with the largest consumer market, China, has been completed and discussions are underway with Hong Kong, today, the Economic Minister, Mohamed Saeed said that USA, UK and Japan has been invited to discuss Free Trade with the Maldives.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Dhivehi Insurance company, Minister Saeed said that Maldives is a heavy dependent on import duty and the President aims to make Maldives open to all trades.
The last of the FTA discussions with China was concluded on a visit to the country by the Economic Minister last month. China is the first country the Maldives is working to establish an FTA.
