A seminar has started today in the Maldives to acquire expertise to absolve terrosim and extremism from the country.
The two-day seminar at Kurumbaa Maldives is set to hold discussions on fighting and absolving terrorism.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the seminar, Defence Minister, Adam Shareef Umar said that it is important for the Maldives to take steps in the fight against terrorism since extremism and terrorism has spread globally.
The Defence Minister said that it is a challenge facing every nation.
Discussions are set to take place on the impact of extremism and terrorism on the Maldivian tourism.
A total of 11 countries are taking part in the seminar organized by the National Counter Terrorism Center. Countries taking part include major powers such as the US and the UK.
