Lawyer Najeeb murdered

Ahmed Najeeb, 65, of Lady moon, S. Hithadhoo has been murdered.

Following information received at around 18:15, Police found Najeeb’s severely injured body in a room in M. Masroora.

He had been dead for over 24 hours when the Police found his body.

According to Najeeb’s son-in-law Mohamed Manik, Najeeb was at home in M. Carrot when he was taken to Masroora and murdered.

Najeeb’s body has been taken to IGM Hospital.

Police have arrested Ahmed Murrath, 29, of M. Masroora in relation to the murder of Najeeb. Murrath was one of the 218 criminals released on 18 August 2011 under former President Nasheed’s ‘Second Chance’ program.

Ahmed Najeeb is a lawyer and author of several history and children’s books. He is the father of actress Sheela Najeeb, athlete Shamha Najeeb, and badminton player Neela Najeeb.
