It has been six days since the five-month-old infant in State custody at Children’s Shelter – Fiyavathi, in Hulhumale’ died and postmortem on the child’s body has not been done.
Police media official spoke to “Sun” this Sunday, and said that the authorities were making arrangements for a postmortem. But did not specify a reason for the delay.
Though no outward sign of harm was visible on the body of the baby boy, authorities made the decision to perform a postmortem, given that the child had died under State care.
Police were made aware the infant was having trouble breathing at 11:14 am, last Monday, October 18.
He had been dead when taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital on emergency.
Authorities haven’t released the identity of the child, or his medical history.
Children’s Shelter – Fiyavathi, is home to approximately 85 children below the age of 10 years who are in State custody.
