Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) forecasts heavy rain to a large part of Maldives for the next 48 hours.
Met Office has attributed the bad weather conditions to effects of the South West Monsoon (Hulhangu Monsoon) being experienced in the region.
Surface winds are expected to vary between south-westerly to westerly at 10 to 20 miles per hour in the central and southern part of the country, and 7 to 17 miles per hour in the north.
Winds may gust to 45 miles per hour during showers.
Seas are expected to be moderate, becoming rough during showers.
The heaviest of the rainfall for the next 24 hours in expected to fall on central part of the country – where its capital – Male’ is situated.
