Former Ministers of President Yameen has met with President Maumoon

Some of the former Ministers in the Presidency of Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom have met with the former President and President of PPM, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

At a time where internal turmoil with PPM has created two factions within the party, the meeting that took place at the PPM Office today was attended by the former Minister at the President’s Office, Abdulla Ameen, former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal and the former Foreign Minister, Dunya Maumoon.

Former Ministers, Ameen and Maleeh are on the shadow cabinet of the Maldives United Opposition (MUO), the opposition coalition. They have attended some of the functions and rallies organized by the oppositions.

Spokesperson of the Maumoon faction of PPM, the MP for Baarah constituency, Ibrahim Shujaau said that information regarding the meeting would be shared with the media very soon.

The official Twitter account of PPM tweeted that the President Maumoon and the former Ministers of President Yameen discussed the challenges facing PPM right now.

Attempts to reach the former Minister Maleeh to acquire further information on the meeting have been unsuccessful since he is not answering his phone.

The two factions of PPM under President Maumoon and President Yameen are both claiming to be the true PPM. Both factions have been appointing people to positions separately.

Civil Court ruled that the running PPM must go under President Abdulla Yameen. But President MAumoon said that the ruling cannot be accepted and it would be appealed.
