Leader of Maldives Development Alliance, Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has appealed to political leaders of the country to learn to be kind to, and respectful of one another.
Siyam made the appeal during his speech as chief guest of Dh. Atoll School Prize Day 2016, held last Friday night.
The leading businessman - who is Chairman and Managing Director of Sun Siyam Group – said that respect and care for one’s parents, elders and teachers was a practice that was rapidly disappearing from the Maldivian community.
He stressed the importance of love and respect for one’s fellow man, and said that it needed to promoted in every Maldivian island.
He said that without that common decency, there can be no development or progress to any community.
“We need to love one another. We need to be kind to one another. This needs to be promoted in every Maldivian island. Political leaders need to be mindful of this. There needs to be love among the people of this country. Without this love, there can be no progress,” said Siyam.
He spoke about the current bloodshed being experienced in Islamic states across the world, and said that it was because of lack of kindness within communities.
He said that it was not right for humans to live that way.
Siyam also spoke about the importance of education to build a happy and prosperous future and how much education was promoted in the religion of Islam.
He said that education was ineffective unless good traits such as respect for one’s parents, elders, and teachers was as deeply integrated.
