Cargo boat sinking in Dhidhdhoo

A cargo boat travelling from Male’ takes in water after hitting a reef on its way to H. A. Dhidhdhoo.

Dhidhdhoo councilman, Ibrahim Waheed reported that the boat “242” from H. A. Ihavandhoo hit the reef this Wednesday morning.

He said that the boat was now docked at the harbor.

Locals from Dhidhdhoo have risen to the aid of the boat and are unloading the cargo, as the boat continues to take in water.

Ibrahim Waheed said that only the crew of the boat had been onboard when the incident took place.

He said that no one suffered any bodily harm.

“Boat hit the reef after it finished its trip, on its way to Dhidhdhoo to unload the cargo,” said Ibrahim Waheed.
