Jabir: Government overthrow an impossible task for opposition

Chairman of Yacht Tours, former Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir has called the opposition efforts to remove the current government from power an impossible task.

Speaking during the SanguTV show “Khabarah Fahu” on Tuesday night, Jabir said that every opposition party at any given time wanted to de-seat the current government in power. And that the opposition would find it an impossible task to de-seat the current government in power – no matter how much they advocated for an interim government.

He said that it was the constitutional right and responsibility of every Maldivian President to complete his five-year term.

“Without a doubt, President Yameen will do this,” said Jabir.

He also talked about former President Mohamed Nasheed, saying that the decision of Nasheed to resign from office on February 7, 2012 resulted in great negative repercussions to the nation.

“Isn’t it sad if no government is able to persevere post-Constitution in Maldives? The government needs to be there. It needs to be there full-term. It resulted in great negative repercussions when the government fell previously,” said Jabir.

Jabir proclaimed his loyalty to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, and said that he would do everything in his power to ensure Yameen wins the Presidential Elections in 2018 and serves a second term.

He said that Yameen had brought great development and prosperity to the nation under his rule.

“Maldivian economy has only now started moving. It hasn’t been long since President Yameen came to power. We see great projects all around us,” said Jabir.
