Jabir: Steps are being taken in corruption cases after President Yameen took office

Chairman of Yacht Tours and former MP of the Kaashidhoo Constituency, Abdulla Jabir has said that it was only after President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom was elected President that we see steps being taken in corruption cases.

Talking on Sangu TV’s “Khabarah Fahu” (After News) program tonight, Jabir said that it has been about 30 years since corruption rooted in the Maldives but no steps were taken in such cases on previous occasions.

Jabir said that President Yameen has even imprisoned his Vice President for theft showing that the “system working.”

He said that the Maldives was a “vine of corruption” when President Yameen took office and he has been taking measures in such cases. Jabir said that corruption cases are not high lately but the talk of corruption is rising.

The former MP said that it has been proven today that President Yameen did not steal from the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), but it was done by then Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor.
