National Integrity Commission (NIC) has said that the death of detainee Moosa Naeem, 55, was still under investigation.
Moosa, from H. Filikurige had died in jail on August 30 from an apparent heart attack.
President of NIC, Mohamed Farhad spoke to “Sun” this Sunday and said that the commission had taken statements from some witnesses and were waiting for some necessary information they needed in order to complete the investigation.
He expressed hope the commission would be able to close the investigation soon.
Officials from NIC had visited the cell where Moosa was kept in following his death.
Moosa’s family said they had some suspicions over his death, but did not want to reveal the
details of their suspicions to the media.
Moosa was buried without a postmortem at the request of his family.
A man in charge of the mortuary confided in “Sun” that there were no visible bruises on his body.
Moosa was arrested on July 9 and was held on suspicion of large-scale drug trafficking.
