Midnight Shop fined MVR 10,000

Midnight Shop – an unregistered business which operates out of Facebook to sell food to people after business hours – has been fined MVR 10,000 for the violation.

Ministry of Economic Development has confirmed that it has fined the business MVR 10,000 for operating unregistered.

Article 3 of Business Registration Regulation compels all businesses that operate in Maldives to be registered, while Article 14 of the regulation prescribes a fine of MVR 10,000 if a business is found operating unregistered.

Midnight Shop provided delivery of food from 11 pm to 6 am.

A recent amendment to regulation on teashops and restaurants banned such businesses from operating starting from midnight to 4:30 am.
