A petition has been filed with 50 signatures from the members of the MDP National Council to dismiss the former Vice President of party, Alhan Fahmy.
In a letter sent to Alhan today, MDP said that that Alhan has violated the regulations of the party as a common member. And so he was accused of not supporting the Maldives United Opposition (MUO) which the party agreed to enter by the vote of the MDP Nation Council and conducting activities against the MUO.
The letter said that Alhan has repeatedly spoken on the State Media to damage the MDP. And has refused to accept an elected member of the party and attempted to create conflict by entering the main office of MDP and instigated a confrontation.
Alhan was ordered to appear at the MDP Office on Thursday, 12:30 p.m. to respond to the petition of dismissal against him and if he is not attending, he was advised to respond in writing.
And so he was asked to respond by 3 p.m. on Thursday if in writing.
Regarding the letter, Alhan told Sun Media that he has not violated at regulations of the party and MDP was formed to work within the confines of the law and he has always called to the party to work as such.
Alhan said that MDP is treating him as such because he made the decision to run in the 2018 Presidential Election.
