The Police is yet to confirm if any arrests have been made following the robbery at the Western Union last night. And they have not revealed exactly how much money was stolen.
Police said that masked men entered Western Union Money Transfer last night around 12:45 a.m., threatened the people inside with knives and robbed a large sum of money.
Investigation so far has revealed that the staff inside the office were threatened and tied up during the robbery.
A man at the area of the scene of the crime said that the suspects ran into H. Thaalhafilige. He said that the total number of money bags taken is unknown but one of them was found at
the stairwell of Thaalhafilige. The masked men also dropped some of the money when they were running.
Once the robbery was reported, a team from the Police was mobilized at Western Union and Thaalhafilige.
A witness said that four foreigners inside the Western Union office were tied up with clips.
Talking to Sun Media, a resident at Thaalhafilige said that the masked men that robbed Western Union hid at that house but does not know how they did it.
