Shifan appointed as Spokesperson of Police

Superintendent of Police, Ahmed Shifan has been appointed as Spokesperson of Maldives Police Service.

Shifan, who currently heads the Strategy and Legal Department of MPS, had also worked as Spokesperson for the former Commissioner of Police, Hussein Waheed.

Shifan spoke to “Sun” this Tuesday and confirmed the appointment, adding that he had now been put in charge of running the media department of MPS.

“It is my wish to share news of the police’s sincere duties to the general public in a timely fashion. It is also my aim to provide accurate information to those who obtain services from the police as soon as possible,” said Shifan.

Shifan has filled a number of high-ranking positions within the MPS, including Head of Drug Enforcement Department and Head of South Police Division – filled at a particularly politically turbulent period in recent Maldivian history.

He replaces Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdulla Nawaz as Spokesperson of MPS.
