Maldives Police Service has received new equipment to be used on duty to protect themselves.
Police said that the new equipment was acquired as part of the effort to protect officers in the line of duty put in when the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Areef took charge.
And so the new equipment is the standard on some countries to protect and minimize the injuries to Police officers on duty.
Information Officer of Police, Ismail Ali said that the equipment they got include some of the weapons used by Police and new equipment to be used by the Police. He said that some equipment was brought in as a solution to the lack of gear during some deployments of the Police.
He said that new harder head gear was brought in along with armor vests are included in the new equipment.
The new equipment for the Police was inspected yesterday by the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Areef and the members of the Police Executive Board and heads of departments.
