Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to build a new entrance channel and breakwater for F. Bilehdhoo Harbor.
The contract for the project was signed in a ceremony held at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure this Monday by Deputy Managing Director of MTCC, Ahmed Kurith Riza and Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Speaking to press after signing the contract, Dr. Muizzu said that the geographical makeup of the island of Bilehdhoo made the current harbor difficult to use.
“The government has therefore made the decision as per the wishes of the people to replace the entrance channel and build the breakwater as the harbor isn’t usable,” said Muizzu.
He said that the new entrance channel would measure 24 meters in width and the breakwater – 68 meters in length.
The MVR 10,229,417.64 project was contracted to MTCC to complete within 120 days.
