Islamic University to begin courses in the South

Islamic University has decided to conduct courses at the classrooms of the Islamic Center being built in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinahdoo.

The project worth MVR 2 million was contracted to Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) last September. Islamic Ministry said that 70 percent of the Thinadhoo Islamic Center concrete work has been completed.

Speaking at a Social Council press conference at the President’s Office today, Islamic Minister Ahmed Ziyad said that the Thinadhoo Islamic Center would be completed in the next 2-3 months. Then, classes would be conducted in association with the Islamic University for the Southern Atolls.

Vice President Abdulla Jihad said that the courses would be targeted to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Fuvahmulah and Addu City.

Islamic University is currently conducting courses in Malé City alone. But they have been working to expand their course to the Atolls.
