Island Aviation – which runs national Maldivian airlines – Maldivian, has said that it will be increasing two more planes to their seaplane fleet, this year.
Maldivian currently has eight seaplanes in their fleet, one of which is a luxury seaplane.
Head of Administration of Island Aviation, Nashaath Hameed spoke to “Sun” this Saturday and said that it was their target to bring in two more seaplanes this year – the same model as which is currently being used by the airlines.
Maldivian currently has DHC6 Twin Otter seaplanes with the capacity to carry 15 passengers.
Nashaath said that the airlines hope to have 12 seaplanes in their fleet by middle of year 2017.
Maldivian Airlines seaplane fleet is dedicated to carrying tourists.
