Maldivian central bank – Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has reported an increase of MVR 72.1 million in government expenditure this June, compared to June, 2015.
Total government expenditure listed in MMA’s economic review for the month of June is MVR 1.7 billion, which is a MVR 72.1 million increase compared to the government expenditure during the month of June, 2015.
MMA linked the increase in government expenditure in June to the increase in government’s capital expenditure.
However, it was noted in MMA’s economic review that the recurrent expenditure was lower in June, compared to June, 2015.
The decrease in recurrent expenditure has been credited to fall in amount of government spending on salary and allowances for civil servants.
